Special cells in the brain and nervous system, called neurons, work together to produce all of our thoughts and behaviors. Here, we explain what makes optogenetics so special for studying the brain. It is helping us to discover many new things about the brain. Optogenetics has become very popular and is now being used in brain research laboratories all over the world. This technique uses a combination of light and genetic engineering (changing the genetic information of a living thing by inserting or deleting information in the genetic code) to control the cells of the brain. In 2005, a new technique was created, called optogenetics. In order to figure out how the brain works, scientists have had to do lots of experiments and figure out ways to examine and test the brain. How does the brain work? This is a question that scientists have been interested in for hundreds of years. Sempozyum sonrasında 23-25 Kasım 2017 tarihlerinde İstanbul Üniversitesi Hulusi Behçet Yaşam Bilimleri Araştırma Laboratuvarında fonksiyonel MR analizlerini içeren 3 günlük nörogörüntüleme kursu yapılacaktır. Sempozyumda, INCF’in Türkiye birimini oluşturmak üzere INCF temsilcileri ile bir yuvarlak masa oturumu da gerçekleştirileceğinden Türkiye’nin çeşitli üniversitelerinden Nöroinformatik alanında çalışan araştırmacıların katılımı büyük önem taşımaktadır. Toplantının ilk 2 gününde, “Recent Advances in Human Brain Mapping” başlıklı sempozyum, Küba Nörobilim Merkezi’nden Pedro Valdes Sosa, OHBM-Alp Bölgesi Şubesi Başkanı Roland Beisteiner ve Uluslararası Nöroinformatik Koordinasyonu’ndan (International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility – INCF) Linda Lanyon’ın ve Türkiye’deki çeşitli nörogörüntüleme ve hesaplamalı sinirbilim gruplarının katılımıyla gerçekleşecektir. We are honored to invite you to this scientific event of OHBM-Turkey Chapter, and we sincerely hope that by this opportunity a large group of Neuroscientists from a wide range of Turkish universities may come together.Ģ1-25 Kasım 2017 tarihlerinde Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) desteğiyle, OHBM’in Türkiye temsilciliğini üstlenen Beyin Araştırmaları Derneği tarafından İstanbul Üniversitesi’nde “Turkish Human Brain Mapping Meeting-2017” düzenlenecektir. The symposium will also include a round-table session to discuss the feasibility and possibilities of building the Turkish node of the INCF directly with the representatives of the INCF, which makes the participation of researchers related with the Neuroinformatics field at various universities of Turkey very important.Īfter the symposium, a 3-day neuroimaging course on functional MR analyzes will be organized between November 23 at the Hulusi Behçet Life Sciences Research Laboratory of Istanbul University. The meeting will start with the symposium on “Recent Advances in Human Brain Mapping” on November 21-22, 2017 with the participation of Pedro Valdes Sosa from Cuban Neuroscience Center, Roland Beisteiner from the OHBM-Alpine Chapter, Linda Lanyon from the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) and contribution of various Neuroimaging and Computational Neuroscience groups in Turkey. “Turkish Human Brain Mapping Meeting-2017” organized by the Brain Research Society representing the Turkey Chapter of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) will take place at Istanbul University on November 21-25, 2017.
